Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stepped down as the country's head of state Sunday, paving the way for him to run as his right-wing populist Serbian Progressive Party's candidate for prime minister in the October parliamentary elections.

British police said they had evacuated homes Sunday near the air base of Fairford in southwest England used by US air forces and arrested five men over suspected explosives offences. British counter-terrorism police are investigating the incident.
