EE UU desmantela un negocio millonario de fraude matrimonial: 40.000 dólares por una pareja y la promesa de una ‘green card’

22 October 2026 at 19:07

Trump administration fails to meet its goal of deporting one million people per year

22 October 2026 at 12:47

The Donald Trump administration is failing to meet its goal of deporting one million people a year and remains far from achieving the largest deportation effort in U.S. history, a cornerstone promise of the Republican’s 2024 presidential campaign. In the first 18 months of his second term it has deported 980,000 people, according to a report published Thursday by the Migration Policy Institute (MPI). That figure exceeds the removals carried out during Joe Biden’s term and during Trump’s first presidency, but so far it does not surpass the totals recorded under the Barack Obama administration or those of other earlier presidents.

Trump launches hunt for alleged noncitizen voters

The main investigative unit of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been vigorously promoting on social media an effort it considers crucial in the final weeks before the midterms: pursuing alleged large-scale election fraud by noncitizens — a claim that has obsessed President Donald Trump despite a lack of evidence.

More than 100 feet away and no whistles: Activists train to respond to ICE at the midterms

11 October 2026 at 05:00

From the government, officials speak of unnecessary “alarmism,” but thousands of citizens are not convinced. They are training to respond to any potential interference in the upcoming midterm elections. Many were previously active in efforts to protect migrants from raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and their focus has now shifted to defending democracy against possible threats.

A man was shot and wounded during an arrest operation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in New York on Thursday. The shooting occurred in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx at about 4.00 p.m. local time, the police said. Besides the wounded man, there was a five-year-old child inside the vehicle who was reportedly unharmed.

The Trump administration will both detain migrant children and defend them in court

8 October 2026 at 12:11

The Donald Trump administration is creating a team of federal attorneys to represent unaccompanied migrant children (UACs) in their asylum cases. Few details have been released about how the unit will be staffed or operate, but independent organizations that have provided such legal services until now see a clear conflict of interest. Although the new division within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is being presented as independent, the same administration responsible for the children’s custody — and that is pursuing policies aimed at increasing deportations of minors — would also be tasked with defending their cases before immigration judges.

ICE wasted millions of dollars on its expansion of detention centers, according to a government report

25 September 2026 at 18:28

Millions of dollars earmarked to expand U.S. immigration detention capacity ended up in warehouses that will now be sold, in tents that never housed a detainee, and in food purchased for empty facilities. These are the findings of a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), which documents how the rapid expansion of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has left behind abandoned projects, sunk costs, and new financial commitments.

Judge orders release of Salvadoran migrant wrongly accused of being an MS-13 gang member after 10 months in custody

23 September 2026 at 14:13

There are two diametrically opposed portrayals of David Eduardo Mejía Martínez: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presents him as a “criminal” and a member of the notorious Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang who, because he poses a danger to the community, should be deported to El Salvador. A federal judge, by contrast, describes him as an exemplary migrant: with no tattoos and no criminal record, in steady employment, and who has filed taxes since arriving in the United States in 2014. The judge also said he is the father of two children who are U.S. citizens and the main provider for his family.
