Nearly 500 days had passed since Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton last played in a regular-season NBA game. On Wednesday, the two-time All-Star made his long-awaited return, scoring 23 points to help Indiana secure a 123-120 season-opening victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Haliburton was sidelined for the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. The Oklahoma City Thunder went on to win the championship that year.
During Wednesday’s on-court postgame interview, the conversation took an emotional turn as Haliburton reflected on his long road back to the hardwood.
Asked about his performance in the season opener and how much fun he had playing with his teammates, Haliburton became visibly emotional.
"It means a lot to be back out here," Haliburton said as he fought back tears.
"We've got a lot to pick up, the second quarter wasn't good. But, we're battle-tested so we finished this game the right way. Just really proud of this group."
Haliburton added: "... I’m just really thankful to be back out here."
The Pacers experienced a significant drop-off without their star guard last season, finishing with just 19 wins. That was a far cry from the team that had come within one victory of winning an NBA championship the year before.
With Haliburton back, Indiana expects to contend in a competitive Eastern Conference. The Pacers host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday for their home opener.
The NBA season may be only two days old, but Charles Barkley already appears to be in midseason form. During the first hour of Wednesday night’s "NBA Tip-Off" pregame show, Barkley appeared to surprise host Ernie Johnson with an unexpected revelation about Shaquille O’Neal.
Barkley suggested that O’Neal knows FBI Director Kash Patel, delivering the comment so casually that the entire "Inside the NBA" crew broke into laughter.
"Hey, Kenny. Should we be standing this close to Shaq?" Barkley asked.
Fellow NBA analyst Kenny Smith responded: "Why is that?"
"He’s been hanging out with Kash Patel," Barkley explained. "That’s dangerous."
"Oh!! Oh! Oh, I didn’t know you were gonna be going there," Johnson said. "But I should have known you would."
"Alright, Chuck," O’Neal replied as he continued to laugh. "Alright, Chuck."
For more than three decades, Ernie Johnson has hosted "Inside the NBA," which originates from a television studio in Atlanta. Two-time NBA champion Kenny Smith joined the show in 1998, Barkley came aboard in 2000 and O’Neal became a permanent fixture in 2011.
"I got your back, big fella," Barkley said. "We can hang out with who the hell we want to."
Barkley was hinting to Patel’s decision in September to name O’Neal an honorary FBI special agent.
"This session is historic – FBI was honored to be joined by one of the best supporters of law enforcement in the country -Shaq- who graduated with this session and became an honorary FBI Special Agent," Patel wrote on Sept. 17, in a post to X.
During his graduation ceremony, O’Neal joked that Barkley could be his first arrest. "Some of you will go back to your regular jobs, some of you will go to specialized training," O’Neal said in a speech to the graduating class.
"Some of you will go do what I do, be undercover. Well, I was undercover… But I just wanna say I appreciate you guys so much. Congratulations. I am not here for this; I am here for you… And if you see Charles Barkley, arrest him."
Who would have thought a "Wet & Wild" show put on by a touring group by the name of UK Pleasure Boys would get out of hand? Not the English soccer team who allowed the 18-plus show to take place at their clubhouse last weekend.
Banbury United FC was as surprised as anyone when footage of the event hosted at The Spencer Clubhouse started popping up on social media. Now they're reviewing how this could have ever taken place.
The clips of the event that surfaced show male dancers in cowboy hats dancing and stripping on stage, reports the Daily Mail. The dancers then go into the audience where they appear to "perform sex acts on members of a raucous crowd."
It sounds wet and wild to me, but I have no idea what they thought they were signing up for. The apology they ended up issuing after the event indicates that they were expecting a much tamer wet and wild.
"I've worked in hospitality for a long time. Whenever these events happen the women just go nuts - particularly the mums," a source told the Daily Mail. "I guess if it is your one night out in God knows how long, you are going to need to let off some steam."
That's one way to look at it. Banbury United FC had a different way of looking at it. One that required an apology to be issued.
"We are aware of video clips circulating online from the UK Pleasure Boys' 'Wet & Wild' show held at The Spencer Clubhouse on Saturday, October 17. This was a ticketed, 18+ event," they said in a statement.
"The images suggest that part of the performance towards the end went beyond what we find acceptable at our venue. We apologise to anyone in attendance who was offended. The venue was booked for that evening by an external promoter as part of a UK-wide tour," the statement continued.
"We are reviewing what happened and will revise our hire and conduct terms for performance events as a result."
This should be a simple fix. If the UK Pleasure Boys are coming to town for a "Wet & Wild" show, believe that they're going to deliver said show.
If a wet and wild show by a group calling themselves pleasure boys is out of your comfort zone, don't allow them to book it. Problem solved and, at the end of the day, that's all I'm trying to do is help solve problems.
Coyote shows off elite jumping skills to snatch a pear.
A Facebook video shared by Tom Miranda is going viral for all the right reasons. The footage shows a coyote getting some serious air in order to snatch a pear off a tree.

Thank you, Paige
Ladies, have you been wondering how to tee up a golf ball? You're in luck, Paige and her playing partner have created a step-by-step lesson plan.
I have to give credit to Paige. She spent years as OutKick's No. 1 ranked golf influencer in the world, but the content was just Paige in some costume and it started to get old. Once she started doing this playing partner thing where she leans into just being Paige, giggling, dropping innuendo jokes and having fun, the content HAS POPPED.
The formula seems to be rather simple: Create content that neanderthals will share in their golf group chats.
"Good girls bend at the knee, bad girls bend at the hip . . . Or something like that . . . might be the other way round," some guy named Rich, who's clearly in a golf group chat, wrote on Instagram.
By the way, that's Kendall Toole, the former Peloton instructor golfing with Paige. I'm sure some of you who rode a stationary bike during COVID remember her.
I deserve an IMDb entry after doing this voice work for the Cal McCallister show
In case you've been in a coma, OutKick's Matt Reigle created this show and has been using OutKick talent to voice many of the characters. In this episode, my voice talent is on display. Give it a watch and rate my performance.
Speaking of OutKick coworkers, I have to give props to OutKick senior WNBA writer (I gave him that title; it's not an official role) Dan Zaksheske for this single piece of content
This is about as perfect as it gets and shows exactly what it's like to be an OutKick outsider going into many of these environments where the Big Js and the team media staffs absolutely despise you. But, someone has to do it.
Dump Dinners: Are the Millennial parents doing this stuff so they can collect 'Likes' on social media or is it to actually have fun with the kids?
I'm on the fence here. Part of me feels like this would be fun with toddlers who are a complete mess anyway, why not let them go wild. The other part of my brain tells me this is just another dopamine hit for Millennial parents who want to throw this content on Instagram so their yuppie friends smash that like button.

⢠Kevin F. in Naples, FL writes:Food that is hard to screw up? Nachos. A sign of a bad restaurant is when their nachos are terrible.
Kinsey: Hold up, nachos are screwed up at an astounding rate. In fact, a few years ago, I told Mrs. Screencaps that there wasn't a single place within 20 miles of our house that can do nachos correctly.
Burning shredded cheese onto chips isn't nachos. I got to the point where I couldn't even trust the Mexicans to produce a legit plate of nachos. I get where Kevin's going here, but they're easy to screw up because these places don't put in the effort.
⢠Kevin in Frederick checks in:Checking out the site and the Astros chick made me think about the ALCS and WS. I had to jump on the 4 letter website to see where the ALCS stood - the World Series starts Friday, after all, right? Just checked, and apparently it's over (Go Rays!). Didn't even know.
It serves MLB right to have to show the Trop for at least 2 games. Place is a soulless shâbox unlike American Family Field (aka Miller Park). Would cheer for the Brewers if Uke was still kicking it. Would love to hear him call a WS for the home team.
Never really been a MLB fan since the days of the Cubs afternoon games interrupting the 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM window of Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry - stupid Cubs.
Pulling for TB, (another fan base that does not deserve a title) as I lived there while Sapp was playing. He was always a jerk. His philosophy was always he wouldn't take pics or sign anything because someone would be left unhappy - so he just made everyone unhappy. At least he was consistent.
Finally, The WNBA finals fix is in!. Atlanta beats GSV on the road and gets 15 more FT's than the home team? The WNBA decided they've got the chance to ride the Angel Reece train and they are gonna do just that - by any means possible. This is going 7 games for sure...and crowning her as the new face of the WNBA. Can't promote CC over a WNBA champ can you?

⢠CF in Kansas tells me: We went to Wendyâs drive-thru the other day and "lo and behold!" there was an older lady working the window. We had a smooth experience for a welcome change. Perhaps that Wendyâs manager reads your column and was smart enough to take your advice. Bring back the old ladies!!!!!!
Kinsey: Thank you for this report, CF. The quicker Wendy's rids itself of the meth addicts and prison-release system workers, the sooner this brand restores order. Now, I'm concerned that too much damage has been done, but it's a great step. Remember how Cracker Barrel created an unnecessary mess with that whole logo change idea from the Rachel Maddow ripoff CEO? She learned a valuable lesson, left and now look at the stock: It hit $69/share this week.
Bring back the Superbar. Fire the meth addicts. I'd even sell monthly Superbar subscriptions. VIP lines like you're waiting for a ride at Cedar Point. You know what Chick-fil-A doesn't have? A f'ing SUPERBAR! DO IT, WENDY'S!
⢠Greg shares his experience with Warren Sapp:I graduated Univ of Miami in 1978 and have been a huge Cane fan since 1974, my first year on campus. I donât recall the exact year but it was likely around 2004, I was returning back to Florida from Nassau, and Warren Sapp was on the same plane. After we landed, I was standing in the terminal with some Cane fans who just wanted to shake his hand and perhaps get a picture. He could not have been more UNFRIENDLY AND RUDE as he ungraciously denied their request. I knew from that moment on that despite being a great football player, he was a lousy human being. It is no wonder you donât see too many endorsement deals for this miserable person.
How to sync your TV to NFL radio broadcasts
â Tom T. says: Finally! You are covering a topic on which I am an expert. I have been listening to NFL home team broadcasts synced with the TV since Sonny & Sam were calling the Washington REDSKINS back in the 80's and 90's. Back then, over the air AM radio was already synced perfectly with cable TV, so all we had to do was mute the TV and turn on the Technics receiver pre-tuned to 960 AM.
Nowadays, I listen to the skins on BIG100 out of DC, over the Internet. It is normally about 60 seconds ahead of the cable TV broadcast, so I have to pause TV1 AND pause TV2, which shows Redzone channel. I usually sync on the opening kickoff. I also have to avoid looking at my fantasy football scoreboard until commercial breaks, so I can remain in the 60 second "cone of silence".
A funny thing happens around 5pm, however. At that time, BIG100 starts telling me that I am out of the authorized listening area, so for 4pm or night games, I have to rely on an NFL+ subscription, which runs about $13 per month to listen to any game.
Most of the time, everything stays synced up, but occasionally it is necessary to re-sync. If you can handle that, it is the BEST way to watch your favorite team. I was travelling for work on Monday, and I ended up watching the second half on mute, because I was sooooooo tired of Buck and Troy sucking up to Kyle Shanahan and talking about how much the REDSKINS stink..... I can't handle the truth.
Kinsey: I'm still not hearing how you sync the broadcast with the radio when the radio is running ahead of the video stream. Are you guys pausing the radio broadcasts for a set amount of time? Have you determined the exact amount of delay the TV stream is on and then you use some sort of counter to get this stuff perfectly synced?
â Steve C. in Kentucky writes:You have to delay and pause both the tv and radio apps then sync them by myself. After a while it is pretty easy.
That should be more than enough content to get the juices pumping on a Thursday morning. The sun is still out here in Ohio. The weather has been absolutely phenomenal. I'm talking 69, sunny, no wind, no clouds. Just amazing for this time of year which means we're probably going to get pummeled in about seven days.
Anyway, let's enjoy life. Let's get some work done and get one step closer to the weekend.
The Los Angeles Angels’ new ownership era will bring another familiar change: a new manager in the dugout.
Only the Colorado Rockies finished the 2026 regular season with more losses than the Angels. Los Angeles’ 100 defeats ultimately ended Kurt Suzuki’s one-season tenure, with the team declining its 2027 option on his contract.
Baseball operations consultant John Mozeliak announced the decision in a statement Wednesday. "Kurt has earned tremendous respect in our clubhouse, and I’ve seen firsthand how much he cares about our players," Mozeliak said. "I do not believe our record this year was a true reflection of his true abilities as a manager."
Suzuki’s time with the Angels may not be over, as the team has offered him an opportunity to remain with the organization as a special assistant.
Mozeliak said he made the decision in coordination with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, which agreed Sept. 1 to purchase a controlling interest in the Angels from Arte Moreno.
The sale is not expected to close until next year, but the group led by Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke is already making significant changes to the beleaguered franchise.
The Angels ended the season at 62-100 under Suzuki, which marked the first 100-loss season in franchise history. Suzuki ended his 16-year major league playing career as a catcher for the Halos in 2021-22. Suzuki had never been a manager at any level before he was hired exactly one year ago by general manager Perry Minasian.
Suzuki had previously worked as Minasian's special assistant for the previous three seasons.
Minasian was fired by Moreno last June, and longtime St. Louis Cardinals general manager Mozeliak stepped in on a temporary basis to run the front office while leading the search for a permanent GM to replace him. However, that transition plan has been thrown into flux by Moreno’s decision to sell
Mozeliak’s current contract ends in December, with the possibility of an MLB work stoppage looming.
Angels pitching coach Mike Maddux and two staffers were let go in August after Mozeliak determined the team was not fully leveraging the technology and analytics available to its pitchers.
Suzuki’s replacement will be the seventh manager to lead the Angels in nine seasons since it parted with Mike Scioscia after the 2018 season. The Angels have had 11 consecutive losing seasons and 12 straight non-playoff seasons, both the longest active skids in the major leagues.
Two other MLB teams, the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros, are also searching for new managers.
This is about as one-sided of a fight as you're ever going to see. It's like the younger brother going after the older brother to see where he stands. It's Mike Tyson in his prime walking through opponents seconds into a bout.
The trail cam footage starts off with a spike, for reasons only he can answer, lunging towards a bigger buck in the woods and immediately finding out that doing so was a bad idea.
The young buck is lifted off the ground, ragdolled and tossed in the air like he weighs nothing. After being dominated in short order, the young buck impressively manages to land on his feet following the brief battle.
Wisely, the smaller deer then decides he's had enough and makes a run for it with the bigger and stronger buck giving chase. Here's the fight. Don't blink, you might miss it.
Without knowing for sure if any insults were tossed around about the other deer's momma, I can only speculate that rutting season played a part in this fight. The young buck, possibly horned up, was stepping into the wrong territory.
He had to be shown who was boss, and that all the ladies in the area were spoken for. It's part of nature. A part that you really don’t want to get in the middle of.
I'm no expert on deer by any means, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the spike is going to hit the gym, grab some supplements and work the heavy bag before he tries his luck with this buck again.
You have to turn being lifted off the ground and spun around in the air into a motivator. You can't have too many of those losses under your belt. Especially not in front of any doe.
The best fighters get back up and dust themselves off. They learn from their mistakes and make the adjustment. Lunging at the bigger buck was a big mistake for this spike.
A woman who watched her husband get brutally beaten by a mob of rioters in Paris is recounting the terrifying attack that left him bloodied.
"It was like a horror movie. I've never experienced a fear like that before," Almudena Garcia told "America's Newsroom" on Wednesday.
"We were just in the streets in the center of Paris ... We were about to leave, and then we heard some screaming, so we turned around, and we saw one of our friends being beat up by a group of individuals, four or five, and then my husband just ran to them in order to help his friends," she added.
Garcia, who lives in France, told Fox News the group turned on her husband and began beating him after he tried to help his friend.
"It happened very, very fast," she recounted.
"There were five at the beginning and four or five more just arrived in two seconds, so I just saw my husband being beat up by 10 individuals."
Garcia said she screamed for help during the attack, fearing her husband could be seriously injured or killed.
"I was panicking, and I was asking for help," she said.
According to Garcia, two waiters at a nearby restaurant intervened and pulled her husband inside to protect him from the attackers. She said several members of the group then followed him into the restaurant and continued the assault.
"Thanks to the waiters, they could finally get them [the rioters] out ... and I got into the restaurant, and I just saw my husband all covered in blood ... It was very, very scary," she added.
The attack comes amid weeks of unrest across France, which began over concerns about poor school conditions, has expanded to include protests against rising living costs. Some demonstrations have turned violent, with rioters attacking police, looting businesses and damaging public buildings.
Paris has remained a flash point for violence, with videos circulating on social media over the weekend appearing to show groups of men damaging property in the capital and other major cities.
Violence in the streets has subsided since French authorities imposed curfews in parts of Paris and other cities affected by the unrest, according to The Associated Press. Authorities are preparing for additional demonstrations on Saturday, Oct. 24.
The first few weeks of the NFL season brought more lows than highs for the Tennessee Titans.
But Week 6 provided one of the team’s rare bright spots, as the Titans rallied for a 26-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, their first win of the season.
The celebratory mood at the Titans’ Nashville headquarters was likely short-lived, however, after the team made a surprising move involving one of its defensive linemen.
On Tuesday, the Titans announced they had released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott, citing an unspecified "incident" at the team’s facility.
Elliott played under then-San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh the past two seasons before following Saleh to Tennessee, where he is now the Titans’ head coach. Elliott appeared in five games this season with the Titans, recording 11 total tackles.
In a statement, the Titans said the incident happened last Thursday.
"On Thursday, Oct. 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott. Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter."
Details surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
Elsewhere on the Titans’ roster, defensive back Alontae Taylor did not suit up due to what was described as a coach’s decision. Saleh also did not provide details about Taylor’s status.
Taylor played nearly every defensive snap during the Titans’ first five games of the season. He signed a three-year, $58 million contract with Tennessee in March and had recorded 19 tackles and one sack through those five matchups.
Mel Brooks wasn't about to let his age stand in the way of a "Spaceballs" comeback.
Brooks, 100, had one very specific request before cameras started rolling – Don't wait to film me.
"We filmed 'Spaceballs: The New One' that Mel Brooks worked with the writers on. He’s a big influence in it. He filmed his part already before we shot," Daphne Zuniga, who plays Princess Vespa, told People during the "Melrose Place" 90s Con panel. "It was his idea: ‘You better film me now because I’m 100.’"
The upcoming sequel will also bring back several familiar faces, along with a few new additions.
"It opens April 23rd of next year," Zuniga revealed. "Rick Moranis is back as Lord Dark Helmet, and Bill Pullman is back as my husband. His real son, Lewis Pullman, plays our son, the prince, and Keke Palmer is in it. It was great fun."
"Spaceballs," co-written and produced by Brooks, premiered in 1987. The comedy legend was 60 when the movie premiered and is now 100 years old.
The film follows Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his half-man, half-dog sidekick Barf (John Candy) as they attempt to rescue Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) from the villainous Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) and President Skroob (Mel Brooks).
A parody of "Star Wars," the movie also pokes fun at "Star Trek," "Alien" and other science-fiction classics.
Moranis' portrayal of Dark Helmet became one of the film's most memorable performances – but according to Brooks, it came at a price. He previously told Fox News Digital that the making of the film quickly racked up a bill, all thanks to one star.
"Rick Moranis cost me a lot of money," Brooks explained. "When we were filming, the whole crew kept laughing at his antics and ruining take after take!"
"It all started with his entrance in his giant helmet and the line, ‘I can’t breathe in this thing,'" Brooks recalled. "His reading of it was so real and funny that everybody on the set exploded with laughter! I had to sternly caution the crew not to break up when Rick did his stuff, but it was hard because often I’d be the guilty one laughing my head off."
Nearly four decades after first donning Dark Helmet's oversized headgear, Moranis admitted that returning to the role felt like stepping into a time machine.
"Well, I kept having to pinch myself because I would look at Daphne [Zuniga] and Bill [Pullman] and George Wyner. Earl Sanders. And then there were all these young people," Moranis said during a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, according to People.
"And I realized I was their age 39 years ago when we made this," the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" actor said. "And here we are now, and my kids are the age of this."
"I felt like I was in a time warp, but I was in that outfit and wearing the helmet," he added. "And it just felt very strange to be honest with you. But it started to feel really good and I really started to love it."
Christina Applegate is back at "square one" after doctors told her she does not have multiple sclerosis.
The 54-year-old actress, who was diagnosed with MS in 2021, addressed the surprising development Tuesday on her "MeSsy" podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
"This may come as great news, but to me, I’m back at square one," Applegate said while fighting back tears. "It’s hard to say that [my doctor] came into my room, and she said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS.’"
"I was, like, not happy at all," Applegate admitted. "Everybody else was so happy … You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of a sudden I’m better."
"I haven’t gotten better, Jamie!" she continued. "If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways. So I’m back at square one that I don’t know what’s going on with me."
Applegate said her doctors are now working to determine what has caused her ongoing health problems and why she was diagnosed with MS in the first place.
"There’s a pretty damn high number of misdiagnoses with MS," she said. "So this is not a rare occurrence. It’s clear now that they’re finding something different. Something else is going on."
The actress also admitted that the news left her feeling confused and as if she had "let everybody down."
"It’s this weird feeling of like … I became this — you and I, the poster children for MS," Applegate told Sigler. "And all that I did, everything I was doing. I had a reason. I had a f---ing reason as to why my day sucked every day."
"And now I don’t have a reason, and it’s very unnerving, and it’s really confusing for me," she added.
Applegate also opened up about the toll her chronic pain and mobility issues have taken on her mental health and career.
"I’ve gone through a great depression because of it," she said through tears. "But you know, I lost everything. I lost my job. I lost — sorry. What do you say to someone who’s been living with this for six years? God, I’m so sorry, I get really emotional because it stopped my life."
Applegate clarified that the change in her diagnosis has not changed her physical condition.
"I still have to use wheelchairs when I go to the doctor’s office," she said. "I can’t walk from the car to the room. I’m still in this. Nothing magical happened when she said, ‘You don’t have MS.’ Nothing magical happened."
Applegate first revealed her MS diagnosis on X in 2021.
"Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS," she wrote at the time. "It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition."
"It’s been a tough road," she continued. "But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a--hole blocks it."
The actress has been candid about how her health struggles have affected her life, including her ability to parent her 15-year-old daughter, Sadie, whom she shares with husband Martyn LeNoble.
"I want to take her [to school and activities]; it’s my favorite thing to do," Applegate previously told People. "It’s the only time we have together by ourselves. I tell myself, ‘Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.’ And that’s what I do."
Applegate said her physical limitations have also made her more determined to be honest about her life.
"My life isn’t wrapped up with a bow," she said. "People’s lives, sorry for lack of a better term, f---ing suck sometimes. So I’m being as honest and raw as I possibly can."
During a previous episode of her "MeSsy" podcast, Applegate discussed how her health struggles have affected Sadie.
"She didn’t know this. It was like losing the mom she had to this f---ing thing," Applegate said. "And the more she’s gotten older now, I think the more it’s hurting her."
"Mommy can’t do all the things that she used to be able to do, and I see it in her eyes," she added. "I see it."
None of the injuries were life-threatening, SJFD wrote.
"SJFD is on scene of a plane crash in the area of Capitol Expressway and Excalibur Dr.," the department wrote in the Saturday post on X.
"Small prop plane down, no vehicles involved. Two adults and one child transported with non-life-threatening injuries out of an abundance of caution. Please avoid the area," the post read.
The fire department also said the crash resulted in a "minor fuel spill which was absorbed."
Investigators from the SJFD, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are still investigating the cause of the crash and have not publicly released a potential cause, according to Fox2 KTVU.
A spokesperson for the San Jose Police Department told KTVU that drugs and alcohol were not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Amanda Seyfried landed in the hot seat after her appearance in the latest Elizabeth Holmes documentary unleashed a wave of criticism online.
Seyfried surprised viewers when she appeared alongside Nathan Fielder in "You Can See Everything," a documentary that followed Holmes in the last 34 days leading up to the start of her prison sentence. Holmes reported to Federal Prison Camp Bryan on May 30, 2023.
Seyfried revisited her connection to the disgraced Theranos founder, whom she portrayed in Hulu's "The Dropout." The new documentary, released Oct. 16, explored Seyfried's evolving perspective on Holmes, including her reactions to Holmes' personal life and relationship with Billy Evans. Stepping back into Holmes' shoes for the documentary, Seyfried helped Fielder recreate conversations he had with the disgraced Theranos founder after she reported to prison.
Throughout the film, Seyfried grappled with her growing sympathy for Holmes, even as the convicted fraudster challenged the way the actress portrayed her in the Hulu series.
"Amanda Seyfried defending Holmes as a victim of male manipulation until Holmes accused her of participating in a sensationalized version of the Theranos scandal and then flipping out about how it is just TV was a [sic] truly gross," one X user wrote. "I hope she gets redragged for it."
Other viewers piled on, accusing Seyfried of changing her tune when the scrutiny shifted toward her own role in bringing the Theranos scandal to television.
"Lots of 'women protecting women' posturing from her until she gets accused of perhaps also causing Elizabeth some degree of pain, after which she immediately deflects and starts engaging in female emotional manipulation by accusing Nathan of covering up for Elizabeth based on her 'intuition,'" another user said.
Another viewer echoed the criticism, arguing that Seyfried's behavior only reinforced their negative impression of the actress.
"This is maybe the number one reason why I loved 'You Can See Everything.' Seeing Amanda Seyfried for her true colors in full hypocrisy was such a cathartic feeling," one user said. "It reminds me why we should never take people like her seriously."
Not everyone agreed with the harsh criticism. Some viewers came to Seyfried's defense, arguing that her changing opinion of Holmes wasn't a sign of hypocrisy but rather an essential part of the documentary's larger message.
"imagine walking away from this blaming amanda seyfried," a user wrote. "the point is, amanda herself changes her opinion on elizabeth holmes. so does nathan fielder. so does the audience. thats the literal point."
Another added, "At no point in the movie does Elizabeth Holmes reckon with how anyone other than her was harmed by the downfall of Theranos. Amanda Seyfried earnestly reckons with the consequences of her actions even when she is (correctly) pretty sure she didn't do anything wrong."
Fox News Digital reached out to Seyfried's representative for comment.
Holmes was convicted in January 2022 on four federal fraud charges for misleading investors about her blood-testing company's technology and capabilities. A jury found her guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and three counts of wire fraud, all related to defrauding investors.
She was sentenced in November 2022 to 11 years and three months in federal prison.
"You Can See Everything" examined Holmes' efforts to reclaim control of her public image after the spectacular collapse of Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded. As she prepared to begin her prison sentence, Holmes confronted the fallout from her fraud conviction, the intense scrutiny surrounding her personal life and the Hollywood portrayal of her downfall.
The film offered a closer look at the disgraced entrepreneur's attempts to navigate life beyond the scandal that destroyed her reputation, while exploring the complicated divide between how Holmes viewed herself and how the public perceived her.
