Singer Sawyer Hill is canceling his tour after a serious tour bus accident killed one of his crew members.

The rocker revealed on Oct. 14, his tour bus ran off the side of the road in the middle of the night near the Colorado-Wyoming border, then flipped.

"It was a terrifying experience for everyone on board, myself included, and we are devastated to share our driver lost his life," he wrote on Instagram.

He said several members of the crew and band were injured in the crash.

"The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and out of respect for that process and for our driver and his family, we aren't able to share further details at this time," he wrote.

He said after "careful consideration" he realized there wasn't a "viable path" for continuing his "Everybody's Home, Nobody's Happy" tour "and that the focus and priority for my band and crew should be on processing and healing."

Hill shares that the band is working on rescheduling dates, but refunds are also available for those who purchased tickets.

"I can't wait to get back out there with you all," he closed his message. "Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and support during this difficult time."

He added in the caption, "My heart is broken, I'm sorry guys."

A family member of the driver identified him as David "Rollingcloud" Jackson, and wrote on a fundraising page that he suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel and crossed three lanes of traffic before the bus rolled.

"Thankfully, the band members aboard the bus survived. Tragically David's life was lost," she wrote.

She shared that the family didn't know before his death that he suffered from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and that he was also epileptic.

"Although the exact medical emergency that took his life remains unknown, the autopsy revealed that he had already passed away before the crash," she wrote. "When paramedics arrived at the scene, he was pronounced dead on arrival."

She added, "There was no warning. No time to prepare. No chance to say goodbye."

"He was a huge part of the music industry, a world he loved and was deeply connected to," she said. "Through his work, the miles he traveled, and the people he encountered along the way, David became part of a community that reaches far beyond any one place."

Jackson was a father of four and a grandfather of three.

The family is asking for donations to bring his body back from Wyoming to Minnesota, where he lived.

Hill's followers expressed their sympathy in the comments of his post.

Chissà come è stato il risveglio in casa Como. Un’idea la si può avere, non fosse che Cesc Fabregas abbia subito cercato, anche nell’immediato postpartita, di riportare tutti coi piedi per terra. Però, certo, vincere 4-1 contro il Manchester United, in una partita dominata in lungo e in largo, non è cosa comune. La notte magica di Champions ha lasciato diversi spunti di riflessione attorno a una squadra che è molto Nico Paz, ma non solo Nico Paz. C’è tantissimo da dire. E soprattutto c’è una parola che fa più al caso delle altre: continuità.

Più ancora di crescita, sì: continuità è il termine migliore per definire il volto di una squadra che non ha cambiato princìpi di gioco anche se ora si ritrova in tutta un’altra dimensione. Prendiamo l’esempio del recupero dei palloni: il Como ne ha sempre recuperati tantissimi anche l’anno scorso in Serie A. Era tra le squadre più aggressive del campionato. Ha confermato questa tendenza: il PPDA (il dato che determina quanti passaggi vengono lasciati fare agli avversari, prima di aggredirli) è stato molto più basso rispetto a quello del Manchester United. Vale a dire di 12,12 contro 15,13. Questo vuol dire che gli inglesi attendevano gli avversari. Il Como no, li pressava. E recuperava, con ben 43 intercetti a 30, distribuiti tra tutta la squadra.

Tra gli aspetti principali emersi c’è stata anche una tendenza a tirare in maniera più efficace. Non maggiore. Lo United ha calciato più volte verso Butez (13 contro 11), ma da posizioni decisamente peggiori. Un elemento che ha portato ad avere un dato di expected goal doppio rispetto agli avversari (1,53 contro 0,69) e ha permesso di risaltare, questa volta sì, le qualità di Nico Paz. Che insieme a Fabregas sembra davvero il volto vincente di un progetto sportivo affascinante, anche se a volte criticato per le spese quasi senza controllo che sono servite per metterlo in pratica.

Si pensi proprio all’argentino, eccezionale ieri anche sul piano difensivo (3 contrasti vinti, 3 intercetti e 2 recuperi: non proprio numeri legati a un 10 come lui). La sua permanenza a Como, per quanto da lui fortemente auspicata, non era per niente certa. Il Real Madrid aveva esercitato la recompra, e la società indonesiana proprietaria del club lombardo non era così sicura di voler investire quella cifra monstre di 60 milioni di euro per un giocatore sì talentuoso, ma ancora molto giovane. Alla fine, tra il pressing del giocatore stesso e quello di Fabregas, il portafogli è stato aperto: 60 milioni ai blancos (pagabili in più anni), diritto di recompra a loro favore fissato a 80 e la possibilità di restare in riva al lago per un altro anno almeno, per dimostrare che anche in Champions avrebbe potuto risultare determinante.

Così è stato. Il Como che non ha tenuto troppo conto dei vincoli del Financial Fair Play (ha speso qualcosa come 340 milioni in tre anni) e ha deciso di investire. E ora con il FFP i conti dovrà farli, tra passivi importanti (nel 2025 è stato di 105 milioni), ricapitalizzazioni e risultati che dovranno necessariamente arrivare per aumentare il bacino di interesse attorno al club. Certo, una notte come quella di ieri non si dimentica. E anzi, aiuta. Il salto, forse, sta davvero arrivando.

Il gol di Lamine Yamal è una perla, splendido anche quello di Vitinha, forse il miglior centrocampista del momento. Finale anticipata, si è detto. Chissà se potrà giocarla Kvaratskhelia: rottura del crociato anteriore del ginocchio destro. Brutta botta. Auguri: lo merita lui e lo merita il popolo del calcio. Foden torna protagonista con la tripletta all’Aek. L’inglese è un sublime, anche se ogni tanto cala il buio.

7 NAPOLI
Rialza la testa dopo i ko con Villarreal e Venezia. Il capolavoro di Politano apre le acque della partita, poi diventa una specie di ping pong. Contro i norvegesi del Bodo Glimt, finisce 4-3, il più romanzesco dei risultati. Tre punti vitali, McTominay decisivo con la sua doppietta, ma i problemi di gioco restano. Lo scozzese è un campione, ma da solo non può compiere miracoli. Tregua Allegri-De Bruyne: quanto durerà? Il belga ha sempre avuto un caratterino non facile: chiedere a Guardiola.

Vince nel momento più difficile, quando si ritrova in dieci dopo l’espulsione di Bastoni. Il gol che risolve la grana-Shakhtar è splendido, lungo l’asse Mkhitaryan-Carlos. L’armeno piazza un assist divino al primo tocco al pallone, il brasiliano infila la porta con una stoccata d’autore. L’Inter rialza la testa, ma una volta per tutte va detto: gioca male. L’Inter vive sulla forza fisica e le qualità individuali, ma lo spartito è decisamente inferiore a quelli di Como e Roma.

Non si vuole infierire, ma se becchi due cartellini gialli in un paio di minuti significa che hai perso il controllo dei nervi. Dopo l’espulsione contro la Bosnia, costata in parte l’addio dell’Italia al mondiale, un altro “rosso” che poteva costare caro. Anche stavolta, come a Zenica, il fattaccio si consuma quando Bastoni gioca come centrale. Qualcuno invoca di non utilizzarlo più in quella posizione, ma si può credere che questi blackout siano solo legati alla collocazione sul campo?

Captain Bruno Fernandes made way for Zirkzee on 67 minutes, as defender Matthijs de Ligt, playing on his return from 11 months out, was replaced by Harry Amass on 79.

Goalkeeper Senne Lammens made a near-post save on a slippery surface and was rated the visitors’ best performer, though he could do little about the opener or the third.

Noussair Mazraoui struggled most, losing his footing under pressure and being beaten by Como’s Alberto Moreno da Cunha.

When United last won the Champions League in 2008, Como were in Serie D.

Como e Manchester United entram em campo nesta quarta-feira (21), às 13h45 (de Brasília), no Estádio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, pela terceira rodada da primeira fase da Uefa Champions League.

O Como está na décima oitava posição, dentro da zona de classificação para os playoffs, com três pontos. A equipe italiana estreou com uma vitória de 4 a 1 sobre o RB Leipzig. Depois, perdeu para o Feyenoord por 3 a 2.

Já o Manchester United também soma três pontos e aparece logo atrás, na décima nona colocação. Nas duas primeiras rodadas da Champions, o time inglês goleou o Sabah por 4 a 0 e depois foi superado pelo Atlético de Madrid por 2 a 0.

It is that time of year when we Palestinians seem relevant again.

My inbox is flooded with interview requests about 7 October. Media outlets are interested in hearing my thoughts on the anniversary, and journalists want to know whether I condemn Hamas or not.

But what difference does it make?

Growing up, I dreamed of the day I would wear the press vest and helmet and tell the stories of Gaza to the world through my own eyes. I wanted to tell stories about how Palestinians love life, how they try to create something out of nothing, and how they try to bounce back after Israeli aggression and continue. I wanted to tell the stories of the Gaza I know, instead of the Gaza the media focuses on only when there is Israeli aggression or genocide.

But shortly after I graduated, it was 7 October.

In no time, wearing press gear became risky. Instead of protecting journalists and media workers, it made them a target.

Since the genocide began, over 74,000 Palestinians have been killed, including over 21,000 children, and this only accounts for the official numbers. Nearly 2 million people have been displaced, and 80% of the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip has been destroyed. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, 247 journalists have been killed, 174 injured, and 118 imprisoned.

Staying alive

For the first 45 days of the genocide, I was on the ground reporting closely with two colleagues, Hatem Rawagh and Mohammed Abu Safia. They were both fathers, carrying the responsibility of staying strong and, most importantly, alive for their children. They held on to the hope of watching them grow up, giving them a future, and seeing them live in a better world than the one they were reporting on.

I still remember how Nour, Mohammed’s youngest daughter, would call him while we were out in the field reporting. She would tell him “bahebak” (I love you) in her soft voice, still learning how to pronounce the word. I could see how those words affected him each time he heard them.

His family has always been his reason for living, but Mohammed’s desire to tell the world the truth in hopes that this carnage could end forced him to stay away from them. Every day, he wondered whether it was safe to visit his family, or whether going would put them at more risk of being targeted.

His biggest fear was that Israel would kill them because of his profession, and that he’d remain alive to bear that agony.

He thought a lot about what Wael Dahdouh endured. After learning that his family had been killed by an Israeli airstrike, the Al Jazeera journalist had to report on the tragedy.

This was not the only loss we shared.

Belal Jadallah, the founder of Press House Palestine, who was a father figure to all journalists in Gaza, was also targeted and killed by Israel. He trained so many of us, including how to stay safe and how to be careful with our language and terminology because of the weight they carried for the wider world.

I was with Hatem when he told us the news: “Belal got targeted with an Israeli tank shell, or an airstrike hit his car.”

If the person who taught us how to protect ourselves could not be protected, then the vest and helmet were certainly never going to be enough.

It always felt like the only certainty in Gaza was uncertainty.

We had watched Israel kill our colleagues one after the other. Many others had also been injured or imprisoned. Each time, we’d wonder who would be next as it became harder to escape.

We were surviving one day at a time, never knowing when our turn might come.

Duty

Hatem and Mohammed are still in Gaza, still reporting. They explain: “It’s our duty.”

Part of them still wants to believe that if the world learned more about what is happening in Gaza, the genocide would stop. But now, three years into it, we know it’s not enough. Knowledge without accountability and justice means nothing.

As journalists, our responsibility is to bear witness and tell the truth, and in Gaza, we risk our lives to do it. But the responsibility cannot rest on our shoulders alone. The rest of the world must also be willing to carry that truth forward, to turn what it knows into action.

I used to dream of telling the world how Palestinians love life, how they build something out of barely anything and keep going. Instead, I have spent the last three years telling the world how they are being killed.

Whenever I see the number of journalists killed on the news, I think of the families they left behind, and of the people who are still waiting for a call that will never come. Whenever I watch the news from far away, I imagine the journalists behind the footage, standing in the same streets in the same vests, wondering if today is their turn.

Now, three years into a genocide, there is less and less coverage coming out of Gaza, and it is because journalism itself has become a target.

Despite our colleagues around the world watching so many being killed in Gaza, which sets a dangerous precedent for the future of their own work, too many are contributing to the injustice through the so-called measured language they choose, the realities they obscure, and the violence they help justify and normalise.

So every year around this time, when those press requests come flooding in, I think about the journalists who are still in Gaza, still on the ground reporting, and who will never get an email asking for their expert opinion, their experiences of tragedy and destruction.

Hatem and Mohammed say it is their duty, but it should not be theirs alone.
