Saturday on Fox News Channel’s “Big Weekend Show,” Trump border czar Tom Homan said the administration could denaturalize and deport Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) if federal investigators prove immigration fraud. Co-host Tomi Lahren said, “I think people were rather shocked to

Obama wrote Sunday morning, on X, that “the full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president.”

Minnesota lawmaker’s attorneys asked for return of seized items and the preservation of any recordings of search
Ilhan Omar’s attorneys have asked the US Department of Justice to return property that federal agents removed days earlier from her home during a search.
The lawyers for the Minnesota Democrat contended that the seizure as “neither justified nor lawful”, according to a letter that the Associated Press reported on Friday.
A criminal investigation into the lawmaker’s immigration process advanced after federal investigators reviewed family text messages from a seized phone.
This week, Robby Soave and Christian Britschgi discuss the federal government's raid of Rep. Ilhan Omar's Washington, D.C., residence and question the temporary pause of U.S. intelligence support to Ukraine. Next, the boys exchange mishaps—Robby lost his phone, and Christian had a bad experience at a local restaurant—before decrying the Pentagon's idea to livestream the execution of the Fort Hood shooter. Next, Christian gives a rave review for the new movie Primetime, and Robby shares a positive reaction to Greta Gerwig's first trailer for The Magician's Nephew. Finally, they wrap with some cultural commentary, striving to answer the age-old question of whether or not women dress like "whores" at the gym.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper questioned whether Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) should have come forward about any potential issues with her immigration status during the Biden administration rather than face a criminal investigation under President Trump. The scope of the investigation into Omar is unclear, though Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has suggested that authorities were examining potential crimes related to her family's immigration paperwork.
President Donald Trump's administration has taken the unusual step of searching Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar's home in Washington, just three weeks before the midterm election.
Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C., home of Minnesota Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar early Monday. Agents with Homeland Security Investigations were seen carrying boxes from the home. Rep. Omar accused the Trump administration of political intimidation. Geoff Bennett discussed more with Devlin Barrett, a New York Times reporter and author of "The Department of Revenge."
This is an escalation in a criminal investigation of US Rep. Ilhan Omar, in the final weeks of her reelection bid. She is a frequent target of Israel partisans and the Trump Administration over her opposition to Israel's human rights violations and the Israel lobby's destructive influence in the US
Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C. area home of Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar early Monday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into alleged fraud in the congresswoman’s immigration records.
The search took place before dawn on Monday, in the Washington, D.C. area. A Justice Department spokesperson confirmed that the action was authorized by a judge and said it forms part of a federal criminal investigation that continues to develop.
The raid occurred only weeks before the midterm elections, placing a sitting member of Congress at the center of an active federal inquiry as voters prepare to head to the polls.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), carried out the operation in coordination with the Department of Justice (DOJ)
People close to the case said the procedure derives from an investigation into alleged immigration fraud in the congresswoman’s documents. Those records were processed by her late father when she was a child, which means the allegations under review reach back to her earliest years in the country.
I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
The intervention aligns with what border czar Tom Homan announced in mid-September, when he said the lawmaker was subject to a criminal process. A federal prosecutor separately indicated that the statute of limitations could prove decisive regarding older accusations connected to her 2009 marriage. That detail suggests parts of the case may turn on records that are now years old.
Omar, who was born in Somalia, has represented Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District since 2019. A prominent voice on the left wing of the Democratic Party, she was the first Somali and the first Muslim woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
She is also an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly made her a target of his rhetoric. Civil rights advocates have long questioned the accusations directed at her and at the broader Somali-American community, pointing to both the verbal attacks and episodes of physical aggression she has faced over her progressive positions.
Finances Under Scrutiny
The federal operation lands amid separate scrutiny of the lawmaker’s finances. Her disclosure statements show that assets she shared with her husband fell from an estimate of between $6 million and $30 million in 2024 to a maximum of $125,000 in 2025. The shift amounts to roughly 29.9 million dollars.
Combined with student loan and credit card debts held by the couple, that drop suggests a possible negative net worth.
The raid unfolded during a second Trump term in which the United States has revoked 250,000 visas. Federal authorities have offered no timeline for the next phase of the investigation, leaving the case open as the midterms approach.
Supporters of the investigation may argue that no one is above the law, while critics may question whether the case is politically motivated, given the president’s history of attacking the congresswoman.
Ilhan Omar said Monday that she will not be silenced, denouncing a federal search of her Washington-area home as an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize law enforcement, in a message posted on X.
“I am fine. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to attack political enemies and to use federal law enforcement as a weapon,” Omar wrote. “For ten years, Trump has attacked me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation,” she denounced.
Following the search, Omar’s congressional office said in a statement that the “raid by Trump’s DHS is an outrageous abuse of power.” The statement added that the attacks against her “have now escalated to a senseless federal raid.”
“The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong,” the office said. “No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies,” it added.
No charges against Omar have been announced. A search warrant indicates that a judge found probable cause to authorize the search, but it is not an accusation of wrongdoing and does not establish guilt.
